Q&A with Pia Ferrari: Leadership, Media and Giving Back
Q: Tell us about your early years and what first shaped your interest in leadership.
I grew up in Honduras, where I learned the importance of responsibility, hard work and giving back to the community. Those early experiences stayed with me as I grew older. I was fortunate to see leadership from different perspectives, and it taught me that success is about much more than business. It is also about people.
Q: How did your education influence your career?
After completing school in Tegucigalpa, I attended Endicott College in Boston. Studying abroad gave me a wider perspective. I met people from different backgrounds and experienced new ways of thinking. It reminded me that the best leaders never stop learning.
Q: What attracted you to the media and entertainment industry?
Media has the ability to connect people. Stories, entertainment and communication can bring communities together. That was something that appealed to me from the beginning. It is an industry that continues to change, so there is always something new to learn.
Q: What does your role at Corporación Televicentro involve?
Working as an executive has allowed me to contribute to an organisation that reaches audiences across Honduras. Every project requires teamwork, planning and the ability to adapt. No two days are exactly the same, which keeps the work interesting.
Q: How has your role at BEE Entertainment expanded your experience?
As Vice President of BEE Entertainment, I have been able to work on initiatives that encourage creativity while supporting long-term organisational goals. It has reinforced the importance of collaboration and thoughtful decision-making. Strong teams achieve better outcomes than individuals working alone.
Q: You are also involved with Fundación Teletón. Why is that important to you?
Volunteering with Fundación Teletón has been one of the most meaningful parts of my journey. Meeting children, adults and families living with disabilities has given me a greater appreciation for resilience and determination. Those experiences stay with you. They remind you that empathy is an essential part of leadership.
Q: Has your volunteer work influenced your approach to business?
Absolutely. It has taught me to listen more carefully and to appreciate different perspectives. Every person has a unique story. When leaders understand that, they make better decisions and build stronger organisations.
Q: What qualities do you believe define good leadership?
Curiosity is important. So is integrity. I also believe leaders should remain adaptable because industries continue to evolve. You need to understand where change is happening without losing sight of your values.
Q: What challenges do you see for the media industry?
Audience expectations continue to change. New technology creates opportunities, but it also requires organisations to think differently. The challenge is to continue delivering meaningful content while remaining connected to the people you serve.
Q: What role does travel play in your personal growth?
Travel has always helped me broaden my perspective. Visiting new places and experiencing different cultures reminds me that there is always something to learn. It encourages open-mindedness, which is valuable both personally and professionally.
Q: Outside work, what interests keep you inspired?
I enjoy cooking, fashion and travelling. They allow me to be creative and to spend time learning about different traditions and cultures. Those experiences often bring fresh ideas back into my professional life.
Q: Looking ahead, what continues to motivate you?
I want to continue contributing to organisations that make a positive impact while supporting causes that improve people’s lives. Leadership is a journey of continuous learning. If I can help create opportunities, encourage collaboration and make a positive difference in my community, I believe I am moving in the right direction.
